Rosalind Lai

Dr. Rosalind Lai is an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the State University of New York (SUNY). She completed her medical school training at Harvard Medical School with Cum Laude and Honors in Neurosurgery in 2015, and pursued her residency training in Neurological Surgery at Harvard’s prestigious Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital. After residency, Dr. Lai pursued a fellowship in endovascular neurosurgery at the University at Buffalo Neurosurgery and joined UBNS faculty as a dual-trained endovascular and cerebrovascular surgeon.
Dr. Lai’s expertise spans a wide range of general neurosurgical procedures, including brain tumors, spine and cerebrovascular conditions. She specializes in the management of cerebrovascular diseases, which encompasses cerebral aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, arteriovenous fistulae, carotid artery disease, and ischemic stroke.
Beyond her clinical practice, Dr. Lai boasts an extensive research background. During residency, she served as the Principal Investigator for the Harvard Nurses’ Health Study in investigating reproductive risk factors associated with cerebral aneurysms, which was awarded the Women’s Brain Initiative Grant. Presently, her research lab focuses on understanding the genomics of cerebrovascular diseases, cerebrovascular risk factors in women, and post-stroke/hemorrhage recovery and therapy. Her current work is supported by the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) Foundation/Cerebrovascular Section Young Investigator Grant Award, and the Joe Niekro Research Grant.
Dr. Lai sees patients at the Comprehensive Neuroscience Center in Williamsville and at the Orchard Park office. She conducts her surgical procedures at the Buffalo General Medical Center/Gates Vascular Institute, Catholic Health Mercy Hospital of Buffalo and the Atlas Surgery Center.
