Join University at Buffalo Neurosurgery (UBNS) for the inaugural Buffalo Brains in Motion - Brain Aneurysm Awareness Run & Walk. This event aims to increase awareness about brain aneurysms, a condition that approximately 3-5% of the population has.

The Buffalo Brains in Motion - Brain Aneurysm Awareness Run & Walk is being held in September, which is National Brain Aneurysm Awareness Month. All funds raised during the event will go toward brain aneurysm research at UBNS. We are the only center in Western New York doing both brain aneurysm treatment and research.

 

 

Supporting UBNS Aneurysm Research

Learn how the team at UBNS is working to improve the prevention, treatment, and recovery of brain aneurysms. Meet Dr. Rosalind Lai, Dr. Elad Levy, and the research team to learn about exciting research projects supported by The Missy Project and The Bee Foundation. Discover how you can make a difference by participating in or volunteering for research studies that help advance brain aneurysm care.

What to Expect

The Buffalo Brains in Motion - Brain Aneurysm Awareness Run & Walk is open to anyone. You can register to participate in either the timed 5K race or untimed 1-mile walk.

How to Register

Anyone interested can register online now. There is a $45 fee to register for the race. You can register for the 5K/walk up until the start of the race. The last day to register and to be guaranteed to get a T-shirt is August 31.

Do I Have to Participate In The 5K/Walk?

Not at all! Whether you run, walk, cheer from the sidelines, or simply join us afterward, everyone is welcome.

Beginning at 10 a.m., we will open with activities for all ages, including:

  • Meet-and-greet opportunities with brain aneurysm survivors, families, and caregivers
  • Research and education booths hosted by the UBNS, Buffalo Rehab, and other sponsors
  • Learn about the latest advances in brain aneurysm prevention, treatment, and recovery
  • Meet our UBNS clinical and research team
  • Find out how you can support brain aneurysm research through participation or volunteering

Race Day Schedule

When you arrive, you’ll be able to park for free at the Atlas Surgery Center. The itinerary for September 19 is as follows:

  • 8:00-9:00 a.m.: Packet pickup for participants
  • 8:50 a.m.: Opening remarks
  • 9:00 a.m.: Start of 5K and Walk
  • 10:00 a.m.: Award ceremony and guest speakers
  • 10:15 a.m.: Intro to Atlas Surgery Center
  • 10:30 a.m.: Survivor activity
  • 10:45 a.m.: Introduction to UBNS’ Research
  • 11 a.m.: Mingling and table/booth exploration
  • 12:30 p.m.: Wrap-up

Awards will be given to overall male and female 5K finishers, along with age-categorized top runners.
