Developmental Spinal Disorders
UBNS specializes in the treatment of children with developmental spinal disorders such as spina bifida at Golisano Children’s Hospital’s Center for Developmental Spinal Disorders, where children with these disorders can receive expert neurosurgical, orthopedic, urological, and rehabilitative care.

Surgical Treatment of Epilepsy
UBNS participates in the Comprehensive Epilepsy Program and provides surgical management for children and adults with intractable epilepsy. UBNS is the only institution in the region that features a long-term monitoring unit for patients with seizure disorders and is also the only local epilepsy center that offers comprehensive epilepsy surgery, including invasive monitoring, temporal and extratemporal resections, corpus callosotomy, and vagal nerve stimulator implants.

Comprehensive Craniofacial Program
In association with the craniofacial clinic, UBNS offers coordinated and comprehensive care for patients with craniosynostosis and related craniofacial abnormalities. Both surgical and non-surgical options are available for these disorders.

Brain Tumor Program
Using state-of-the-art operating microscopes, micro-instruments, computer-aided stereotaxis, and endoscopy, UBNS provides comprehensive care for children with brain tumors. UBNS works closely with internationally recognized leaders in pediatric brain tumor research and treatment, and with Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Neurosurgical Treatments for Spasticity
UBNS participates in the only program in upstate New York that offers comprehensive neurosurgical treatment of spasticity, including rhizotomy and intrathecal baclofen pump therapy.

Tertiary Neurosurgical Trauma Management
UBNS provides comprehensive medical and surgical management of children with head and spinal cord injuries.
