Michael Stoffman

Dr Stoffman joined UBNS in 2016 after  being in private practice in Western New York for over 10 years. Originally from London, Ontario, he is the Chief of Neurosurgery at Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital. He routinely performs surgery at Mount St. Mary’s Hospital, Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and Kenmore Mercy Hospital. He specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery including spinal decompression, spine fusion, and disc replacement. He also has a special interest in tumors of the brain, pituitary gland and spinal cord.

He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Toronto in Pharmacology with High Distinction and his Medical Degree from the University of Ottawa cum laude. He then completed his surgical internship at McGill University at the Montreal Neurological Institute and his neurosurgery residency training at Yale University where he was appointed Chief Resident. He was also an associate Research Scientist at Yale University.

Dr. Stoffman has been involved in clinical research and was a Principal Investigator on a National Cancer Institute funded grant. He has been invited to review grant applications by other physicians and scientists for the National Institute of Health. His research has been presented at national and international scientific meetings and published in scientific articles.

Dr. Stoffman is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons and a Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (FAANS). He is a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. He is also a member of the North American Spine Society.

In addition to his strong passion for Neurosurgery, Dr. Stoffman enjoys being a husband and father as well as running, reading and music.

Dr. Stoffman sees patients at our Comprehensive Neuroscience Center and our Niagara Falls office. He performs surgeries at Kenmore Mercy Hospital, Mount St. Mary’s Hospital, Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital, and Sisters of Charity Hospital.
