Dr. Andrea C. Wong joined UBNS in 2017. As a clinical assistant professor, she specializes in interventional pain management. She treats a variety of chronic pain related conditions including, spinal disc degeneration and herniation, spinal stenosis, spinal arthritis, joint pain, complex regional pain syndrome, and peripheral neuropathy. Dr. Wong performs procedures using live fluoroscopic guidance for epidural steroid injections, facet/medial branch blocks, radiofrequency ablation/rhizotomy, spinal cord stimulation, lumbar sympathetic block, stellate ganglion block and ganglion impar injections. She also performs injections to treat chronic joint pain in the sacroiliac, knee, and hip areas. Procedures offered in the office setting include greater occipital nerve injections, trigger point injections, and Botox injections (chronic migraine).
Dr. Wong is originally from Toronto, Canada and earned her Bachelor’s degrees from McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada, in Biology and Psychology in 2005, and her Medical Degree and Graduate Degree from St. George’s University in Grenada, BWI, in 2011. In 2015, she completed Anesthesiology internship and residency training at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY, followed by Pain Medicine fellowship training at the University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, OH, in 2016. She is certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in both Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine.
Dr. Wong has been involved in lab based research studying the effect of injury and endogenous opioid circulation leading to the development of chronic pain states, as well as development of opioid-induced hyperalgesia. She has been a co-author in a number of academic pain medicine publications. She is a member of the North American Neuromodulation Society (NANS), American Academy of Pain Medicine (AAPM), and American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine (ASRA).
Dr. Wong is on staff at Kaleida Health and the Catholic Health System and sees patients at our 180 Park Club Lane office location in Williamsville, NY. Dr. Wong also see’s patients at 5959 Big Tree Road in Orchard Park, NY; 3980-A Sheridan Drive in Amherst, NY; and 6930 Williams Road, Suite 3800 in Niagara Falls, NY.
