Doppler Ultrasound

DUnew.jpgIn August 2008, UBNS began performing Doppler ultrasound to save our patients the inconvenience of having to travel to another facility for their imaging studies. UBNS is fully accredited to by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL) for demonstrating excellence in patient care and commitment to Doppler testing of the highest quality.

A Doppler ultrasound is a painless, noninvasive test that relies on sound waves to produce images of the body's internal structures. A Doppler ultrasound differs from a standard ultrasound in that it can also produce images of blood flow. Doctors rely on the results of Doppler ultrasounds to detect, rule out, and/or manage a variety of medical conditions associated with the vascular system, including but not limited to:

  • DUSample.gifCarotid artery disease
  • Peripheral vascular disease
  • Ulcers
  • Deep vein thrombosis
  • Complications from angiography
  • Varicose veins
  • Gangrene infection
  • Shunts in the head, neck, or heart

If you would like to schedule your doctor-prescribed Doppler ultrasound at UBNS, please call 716.218.1000 ext. 5103.
